| Victorinox says the AirBoss is a classic example of “second-glance” timepiece design.
The 44mm Luminor 1950 case is made of brushed titanium with a polished bezel and a sapphire crystal back which enables the movement to be observed and the power reserve to be read via an indicator placed on a bridge. Water resistance is 100 meters. The 40mm Historiador Retrograde case is a reproduction of an iconic original Cuervo y Sobrinos model produced during the 1940s and 1950s. The dial offers rich clous de Paris below distinctive blued hands. At 3,good jewel, 6 9 are retrograde date, power reserve and retrograde day of the week indicators powered by a 42-jewel automatic movement. The engraved CYS oscillating weight can be viewed through the transparent case-back. Double curved crystals, typical of the 1950s, plus 3 ATM water resistance and a Louisiana crocodile strap with deployant buckle complete the package. The brown sandwich dial has the large figures and hour markers which are classic Panerai, as well as a continuous seconds dial and minutes counter. The sandwich dial construction maximizes the dial’s legibility in poor visibility by placing two outer discs with cut-out figures on either side of an inner disk made from luminous material. The first glance tells you “pilot-inspired look”. The second glance catches details like the beveled two-surface inner bezel,watches wall, the raised arabics with luminous inside skeletonized metal frames, and the tiny, circular, diamond-cut grooves in the dial that tell you someone paid careful attention here. The overall effect says understated, functional, reliable, precise,cheap watch bolg, and Swiss. |
